This is so nice. Such a moving voice great. I LOVE when whistling is incorporated into music. It looks really cool. Featuring Alex Honnold and Katie Brown! That is like the coolest commerical. This is so nice. Blue sky, Blue Citi card..That's a nice match!I love it!!

Person above me is an idjet.
"Somebody left the gate open"?
Well, go close the darn thing - don't sing about it!

I'd never heard this song before... Neither had I ever heard of the artist.
However, I was captured enough by the mere snippet of the song in the Citi commercial that I sought it out for myself.
I have to say... I really like it!

As for the naysayers.... You Hater will just keep Hatin'...
Get a life.

And your calling everyone a "Hater" who thinks differently that you is well, really mature.

This song reminds me when I was a kid and told my mother's friends "Be careful...don't leave the gate open or I'll get out......'

Now that I found this, I know the lyrics. I had thought it went, "Sombody ate the potatoes. Come stay on a runaway train-O." Now it makes even less sense. And it's a very annoying song, especially after the 10,000th time you hear it.

The song is uniquely bad. So bad... I can't find the words to express... And its on TV every three minutes or so... And has been for months... Is this hell?

A truly dreadful bit of squawking. I figured as usual that the commercial made it worse than it actually is but no, it really is that bad.

Good grief. Someone put a bark collar on that voice. It's a cross between a cackling hen and celtic chanting.

This commercial has proven something for me. Ear plugs do not stop bleeding. So be careful -- bleeding is induced after about 100-200 times hearing that song and the commercial is played about 100 times per hour. To be forewarned is to have four arms.

I like the song and I admire the climber. The person who put the commercial together did extremely well. Very inspiring. In addition to that is the fact that I can like something, search it on the internet and learn more about it. Tody's technology is great. Kudos to the climber, the singer and the creator of the commercial.

This is a truly cringe worthy song. I change the channel whenever I see this commercial come on solely based on the woman's shrieking voice at the end. The commercial itself is great the song, however, is hideous.

Climber cool.
Song is earth shattering bad for a tv commercial. Banshee, ear breaking, bladder hurting, scream inducing bad. It sucked so bad it sucked me to this website to post how bad it is. I will never use a citibank product again.

This is beyond awful. The song makes me cringe with anger. It's like a hippie nightmare. I would compare it to getting an injection in your testicles.

that song makes my skin crawl. i press mute every time the commercial comes on. the voice could be good but it is so over the top.

As someone in the industry it totally works in the spot...and the song itself is great. The artist and the company both benefited from the project.

It seems to me that all the negative comments are by the same person. After hearing the Citibank commercial, I wanted to know the lyrics. After listening to the whole song in a live recording, I like the song and the performer even more.

CNN actually did a "story" about this commercial. Ignoring, for the moment, what that says about American journalism, I'm outraged (yes, outraged!) that the story was so imbalanced. They covered all of the Citi fanboys (I'm stunned they exist -- tragic) but ignored the voices of the people, who would like to see the people responsible for that song, that has done so much damage to so many eardrums, brought up on charges in the Hauge.

The song is nothing short of genius, and her voice is one of the greatest instruments out there. The article listed previous bandmates. She no longer tours with that cast of characters. In fact, Josh Flagg recently completed his first full length CD titled "Devastate Me". Check that out too!

I saw this ad and immediately ran out and gave Citi all my money they didn't already get in the bailout, because the song made me feel so good.

Finally... a group of musicians that are truly "artists" and gaining recognition for their talent. I'll happily spend money to buy their music so they can produce more. To those that slam it... don't listen... DOH!

This commercial was driving me NUTS. I finally went online and did a search to find out the lyrics. The vocalist really sings it well and its very catchy. I like the song. Glad to know I had guessed right on what she must have been singing.

I had to google to track down the source of this hideous caterwauling that slices through my brain every five minutes on tv. Knowing doesn't make me feel any better. Help!

It's funny that all these bad reviews (pukeworthy, cringe, etc) are coming from people that HAD to actively search this commercial and artist. Too much time on your hands? Everybody has different things that appeal to them. I like music from iron maiden to Tchaikovsky to enya

I think all these bad comments are from PUNKERS that have been to too many "too loud concerts".. Her voice is great.

If the artist sang it well, you'd know what the lyric said, everyone is looking it up, because it is garbled and makes no sense

my wife and I thought she was singing: "Nobody gets potatoes."

Good voice, though. Give up jingles, and whistling. Play real songs.

I had to see if the full song was as bad as the snippet from the commercial...it was worse! HIS voice is one of the most grating I've heard in a while. I couldn't even make it through the whole song. Not surprising a predatory lender like Citi picked an equally despicable song. That's 3 minutes I can't get back unfortunately...

The line used in the TV ad is interesting so I decided to look at the rest of the song......LAME! Is it so damn tough to write a song 'about' something?

I am a late poster. I had never heard of LP. I love her, what talent.

I am going to start using my dormant Citi card to show some thanks for: 1. Having the balls to do something a lot different in a commercial, and 2. Paying some respect to women who excel in a "man's" sport.

horrid. a year later, it is still HORRID! I will never ever ever intentionally use a Citi product. I will go out of my way to avoid them, and would encourage others to do the same. and send them a quick little note informing them of your decision. it is the only way to put a stop to this kind of thing.

WHY are we still being tortured with this every 5 minutes on TV? The repetitiveness makes the awfulness of the song (and the commercial in general) amplified ten-fold. I am at the point where I cannot hear her screech SOMEBODY LEFT THAAAAA GATE OOOOOOOOOOOOPEN one more time. I have to keep the remote in close reach to mute or change the channel in case it comes on (which it does about ten times an hour).

Somebody left the gate open? What does that even mean? espec. singing it for a commercial showing people rock climbing. It's a horrible song, a horrible voice & I hate it so much that I cringe when it comes on. I want to change the channel or lower the volume. Please oh please take this commercial off the air.
